Klifbrekkufossar are a magnificent series of waterfalls
located deep within the fjord at the head of Mjóifjörður in East Iceland.
The waterfalls are situated on the right-hand side of the main road when
descending from the Mjóifjörður mountain pass.
The waterfalls cascade down steep mountain slopes in multiple streams,
creating a dramatic and powerful sight, especially during periods of
increased water flow. Their location at the fjord’s end, surrounded by
high mountains, adds to the sense of scale and natural grandeur.
Klifbrekkufossar are easily visible from the road, making them a striking
and accessible natural feature for travelers passing through Mjóifjörður.
The combination of rugged terrain, flowing water, and the narrow fjord
landscape makes this waterfall row a memorable stop.
Klifbrekkufossar showcase the raw beauty of East Iceland’s fjords, where
steep mountains, waterfalls, and remote landscapes come together in a
powerful natural setting.
